P. Diddy Accused Of Penguin Cruelty

Stuffed animals aren't good enough for Diddy!

Page Six reports that PETA is mad at P. Diddy because he used live penguins as props at a party in South Beach. Six "petrified-looking" penguins were placed on a floating plexiglass platform in the pool at the opening of the Hotel Victor last Friday night. People at the party reportedly told Page Six the cold-weather birds were huddled in a corner the whole night, fearful of slipping down into the pool. (sounds like me, but I'm just afraid of water because of childhood trauma...) "The penguins were obviously bothered by the crowd and the loud music," said one party-goer. "They were all huddled into one corner facing away from everything, trying to get out. Many guests stared in shock, and others started yelling, 'Save the penguins!' It was a sad sight and a terrible idea." Then, everybody gathered around, built a bon fire, and ate the penguins. Actually, that last part wasn't true. PETA spokesman Michael McGraw says, "Penguins live in very cold climates, so the heat was probably unbearable for them. They're very sensitive to temperatures, so if it was as hot as we've heard, it's a wonder they didn't collapse. In any case, they were likely terrified. We are now looking into whether having the penguins there broke any cruelty-to-animals laws. We're asking anyone who was at the party to call us with any information." Diddy's publicist is claiming that the penguins were not Diddy's idea. Diddy also had trouble with PETA in a protest during his fashion show back in 2001. The protest was stopped when his people told PETA that fur would not be featured in the show's collection. "We sent him flowers and a vegan chocolate champagne bottle," McGraw recalled. "And the next day, there was fur all over his runway. We were duped. We later named him to PETA's annual worst-dressed list."

I'm sure that really hurt his feelings.
