Britney Spears Steals "Sometimes"Posted in Gossip on 08/09/05 @ 10:15am, by Reejii. Pregnant pop queen Britney Spears has been slapped with yet another lawsuit. This time it's for copyright infringement. An Indiana songwriter named Steve Wallace is suing Britney; he claims that he wrote the song "Sometimes" on her 1999 debut album "...Baby One More Time." Copyright records show that Britney obtained the copyright for the song in January 1999. Wallace did not formally copyright the song until 2003, according to court documents. He claims he originally wrote the song in 1990 and obtained a "poor man's copyright", which is basically done by mailing yourself whatever it is you want copyrighted, so it can get a postmark. A side-by-side comparison shows that he and Spears' lyrics are nearly identical. She also supposedly sent him an email stating "I now know for a fact that you wrote 'Sometimes.' But there's nothing I can do about it. That's all I can say about it." Wallace also suffers from dystonia, a neurological condition that prevents him from walking. He wants $150,000 for each instance of copyright infringement. Brit's people aren't talking. If this really is true, and that man really does have dystonia, then shame on Britney for profitizing on a poor handicapped man's work! And everything else she profitizes on (hers or not). COMMENTS

I'm mailing myself some empty envelopes tomorrow, so in 10 years when somebody has a hit, I write down the lyrics and put them in the envelope. Seal, I have poor man's copyright.
